Yesterday we were supposed to visit the Oncology Pharmacy again, however the girl who could speak English to assist in showing us around was not going to be coming into work. Therefore, Mathilde, Mateusz, and I got the day off! This meant two things. First, we were able to catch up on some much needed sleep. Second, we were able to spend the afternoon visiting the city. Our first stop was the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations. The collection includes artifacts from each civilization that has existed in Anatolia from the Paleolithic Age to present, in chronological order. These include:Paleolithic Age Neolithic Age Chalcolithic Period Early Bronze Age Age of Assyrian Trade Colonies Old Hittite and Hittite Periods Late Hittite Kingdom Phrygian Kingdom Kingdom of Urartu Classical Period Ankara Section Our second stop was right nearby, the Ankara Citadel (castle). Finally, on the way home we stopped by one of the larger mosques in the city. Unfortunately we were not able to go inside because we were there during the early evening prayer time so it would have been very disrespectful to enter. In the evening one of the Turkish students, Enis, hosted an International Dinner at his apartment. Everyone was encouraged to come up with a dish from their home country to share. It was a fun experience, and I was able to meet some of the students here that I had not previously known. | |
